Mawlid an-Nabi

Mawlid an-Nabi is a festival to celebrate the birthday of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. It is celebrated on the 12^th day of Rabi' al-auwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar. Celebrations of this festival can be traced back to the Middle Ages. Nowadays the main focus is on the life of Mohammed as well as on his sociopolitical role.
